I agree. In the days before ATM cards, would collect pennies in my backpack and make baggies of 100 and give them out on the streets of Philly. The homeless women would hug me and the men would shake my hand. How can we ask for anything from them? Conditional use of the money is demanding payment, negating the gift of compassion…
